torre del mar, spain

We're in the end of january and I am back home after the first trip of 2016. A two and a half week long training camp in Torre del mar outside Malaga in Spain. I joined the Swedish rider Hanna Helamb and my Danish former teammate Christina Siggaard to get some proper hours in, in the sun. We had amazing cycling weather with between 16-21 degrees everyday and not one meter in rain! Even more perfect thinking about the weather in Sweden with down to -20degrees where I live and snow snow snow!
I had 3day blocks and started up with pure endurance training to get used to the air and difference in tempature. My body really needed to wake up and it wasn't until the second block and first day of intervals that it felt better. The training went really well and all according to plan witch was a relef to me since it was quite a hard program. I knew that if my body could take that, it would be exactly the kick I need a month before the races starts.
Now that Im back in Sweden, back on my monark (stationary bike) and looking at the numbers I can really see that I am stronger than before Spain. It's really nice to feel the progress and getting more and more confidence. I am really looking forward to getting a test done in next week to see exactly where I am at. The races are getting closer and I am for sure starting to think about what form I am going to have in the beginning of the season. It's a little bit special, not racing in almost one year and to know you'll be at the startline very soon! Exciting times!
Don't forget to pop in VoxWomen to see my training diary videos every now and than, here's a link to the last one and a new one from the end of my camp is soon up on the web as well.

changes and confidence

The new year is almost here and I can tell you no one is happier than me. 2015 has been one of the hardest years so far as you might have guessed but all my focus is forward and on my goals for 2016. In many ways this illness filled year has been a positive thing for me though. First of all, my motivation and determination is back for real and stronger than it has been before. During every ride and every training I see clearly where I want to be.
This has made me think one step further and during the summer I decided to change a lot of things around me, if it's gonna be possible to reach my very high goals for 2016 I have to make every little thing I can right. Everything from training, my envirement to the financial bits.
I started to look at everything in a bigger picture and had a few clear things I needed to change. First of all my training. I had to make sure I get the most out of the training I do to have a chance to reach my goals already in 2016 after half a year more or less of the bike. I knew I wasn't gonna be able to ride as many hours as I wanted becouse that could get me back to the illness again. I needed to make the training as effective as possible. As I started to think about these things I had an importent conversation with an old friend about the past year and things that was quite negative for me. For example, when I started to feel something was wrong with my body in early march people around me started telling me I was just in bad shape. I was gonna get better longer in to the season and even though I knew I was in better shape than ever before I somehow listend to them. Kept training and went on. Til that wall hit and I ended up at the hospital. I have learned quite alot to be honest and this friend of mine made me realise I needed someone in my life that I can really trust. Someone who can follow me, my training and tell me when something is wrong. Make my training effective and smart.
This friend of mine is Richard Larsén, silver medalist at the Swe champs RR this year. He is working with a company that makes tests and training programs for athletes and at the same time studing in this area. He is one of the few people I know I can always trust. I am super happy to now have him as a coach!!
Another thing was ofcourse finding a team. Which I have already made a blog about. I have now met my new teammates and I am confident it will be a nice year with these people. But as a Swedish rider you also need a Swedish club to ride for. This is something I've had to look at as well. When in Sweden riding and racing (even though it's not going to be often) I had to look at the best option for me to make sure I have the best support I can have. Therefore I will ride for Höllviken CK in 2016!
These are some of the things I have changed for next year and things Im very happy for. I am confident in all the choises I have made and in myself. The determination is right where it should, in 2 months and a few days Im back racing again and I can't wait! Bring on 2016!!

team inpa bianchi giusfredi

So, team news for next year is out and as you might have already seen I will be joining the italian UCI-team Inpa Bianchi Giusfredi! As Matrix is heading in a new direction and steping down from being an UCI team to focus on development I had to look elsewhere. As I haven't been able to race more than 3 uci races in 2015 I knew it was a difficult task to find a team believeing in me enough to dare to sign me for 2016 after the year I've had and with the world tour coming up it's been a difficult thing for a lot of girls with teams going for points. I am super happy to have all the people who sees my potential and always believes in me and it's that kind of people and support I am trying to surround myself with. When I got in contact with the team I directly felt it was something there, it all went down in a few days and Im really glad for the opportunity they are giving me to get back to my best again! I hope that support will be a key to a succesful year.
My season will be based more or less in Toscany in the team house. It's an amazing area with beautiful mountains and all I will be needing and that will be an importent part in my way back as well. My main goals for next year is from end of june (nationals) and for the second part of the season with the olymics as the biggest one to get sellected to. It's a big goal but I am very focused and motivated to reach the form I need til than. The spring will be an importent period preparing for my goals and I am very excited to get started on 2016 already! It will be hard work, but I am prepared for that.
Bring it on!!
I also wanna send Matrix Pro Cycling and everyone involved -sponsors, staff, the girls -a big thank you for the chance I got with you and Im sad I didn't get to spend the summer with you guys! You did a great year and I wish you all the best of luck for the future.
